Sarabjot Singh scripted history alongside Manu Bhakar in the 10m pistol mixed event today by winning a bronze medal. The duo dominated the match against South Korean players Oh Ye Jin and Lee Wonho by 16-10 and secured a second medal for India at the Olympics. This is the first medal for Sarabjot at the Olympics, while second for Manu Bhakar.
On Saturday, Sarabjot, 22, had a heart-breaking opening at the Olympics when he failed to qualify for the men’s singles finals. After three days, he made a remarkable comeback at the Olympics with the third position in shooting.
Who is Sarabjot Singh?
Born on 20th September 2001 to Jatindar Singh and Harmindar Kaur, Sarabjot hails from Dheen village in Ambala. At 13, he was aspiring to become a footballer. Once, at a summer camp, he saw children playing with air guns in a makeshift range and got introduced to shooting. He told his father about his decision to pursue shooting. His father was adamant at first but agreed on later.

He then started training at the AR Academy of Shooting Sports, Ambala under coach Abhishek Rana. In 2019, he won a gold medal and 2 silver medals at the Junior World Championship, Suhl. Overall, Sarabjot has won 13 medals including, 7 gold, 3 silver, and the same number of bronze.
