Harmanpreet was born into a Sikh farmer’s family in Amritsar. As a kid, he used to help his family at farms by driving a tractor. His constant tussle with the rusty gear stick of the tractor built his arms, which helped him become a powerful drag-flicker.
He made his debut for the junior level at the Sultan Johor Cup in 2011. 3 years later, he was winning the Player of the Tournament award at the same event.
In the 2015 Junior Men’s Asia Cup, he struck 14 goals and contributed well for the Indian hockey team to win it. Just after a year of his senior-level debut, he made it to the Olympic team for the Rio Games 2016.
Haramanpreet slowly set his foot as the go-to man for penalty corners in the Indian team. In 2023, the ace drag flicker was handed over the captaincy of the Indian hockey team.
