Rubina Francis Story

Rubina Francis was born on 25 June 1999 in Jabalpur. Being from a middle-class family with a disability, Rubina’s early life wasn’t easy. But she was determined enough to overcome all these obstacles.

“I wanted to do something else besides study in school. Gun for Glory Academy came to my school to advertise shooting and I told my father I wanted to do this. So I registered myself and I got selected. That is how the interest developed. My parents backed me and that is how I took up shooting. The journey started from there,” said Rubina. (source)

She considers her coach and her father as her hero. Rubina made her debut for India in 2017 and currently trains at the Madhya Pradesh Shooting Academy in India.

At the Lima 2021 World Cup, she secured the quota for the Paralympics, Tokyo in the P2 10m air pistol category. In the Paralympic Games, she missed the medal as she stood in 7th place.

Rubina Francis won a bronze medal in women’s 10m air pistol SH1 at the Paralympics with a total of 211.1 points. She became the fourth para shooter and fifth Paralympian to secure a medal for India.
