Rohan Mirchandani was born in 1982 and grew up in New Jersey, USA. He completed his high school education at Bergen Catholic High School (1996-2000) before pursuing higher education. He earned a B. Sc. in Finance and International Business from the Stern School of Business at New York University (2000-2004). Following this, he furthered his education with an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania (2010-2012).
Rohan started his professional career in finance, working as an associate at Duff & Phelps from 2004 to 2005. He later joined his family’s business. In 2009, he came to Mumbai and met chef Ganesh who just started a hobby ice cream business. Rohan being a foodie himself, decided to invest in his venture. His pivotal moment came during his MBA studies when he attended a lecture on consumer brands in Mumbai, which inspired him to explore opportunities in the fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG) sector.
Two years later, during his one week course in Mumbai, he met Shripad Nakarni who advised him to take the FMCG route to scale the ice cream business. With the inspiration he left US and came to India to scale the FMCG plan. However, soon after launching the ice creams, Rohan realized there are limitations in this idea.
So, in 2013, Rohan co-founded Drums Food International, the parent company of Epigamia. The brand focused on healthy and convenient dairy products. Under his leadership, Epigamia became one of India’s most popular brands for Greek yogurt, expanding its product line to include various dairy and plant-based offerings.
Recently, Rohan transitioned to the role of executive chairman.
