Ali Zafar had an interest in cinema from a young age; and he used to spent considerable time watching films and participating in drama societies during college. After completing graduation, Zafar moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in the film industry. He began as an assistant director on several notable projects such as Tashan (2008) and New York (2009).
His directorial debut with the romantic comedy Mere Brother Ki Dulhan (2011). Zaffar’s second directorial venture was Gunday (2014), an action drama set in the 1980s. His major breakthrough came with Sultan (2016), a sports drama starring Salman Khan that became one of the highest-grossing Indian films of all time. This was followed by him directing Salma in another blockbuster, Tiger Zinda Hai (2017).
Zafar became a producer with web series, Tandav on Amazon Prime Video.
