His mother named him Lawrence (Christian name) despite him being born in a Hindu family, as he was born with a fair complexion. During his time at university, Bishnoi developed an interest in sports, particularly wrestling. In 2010, he stepped into the crime world as his politics came with both friends and rivals. Some theories suggests that one of the rival group allegedly burn his girlfriend alive. This personal tragedy push him more into criminal activities. He faced multiple legal issues during this period, including several FIRs related to serious offenses such as attempted murder and assault. Lawrence became involved in extortion, liquor dealing, drugs smuggling and organized crime.
He eventually completed his LLB degree from Panjab University but simultaneously began engaging in criminal activities that would define his later life.

On 29 May 2022 Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala was shot dead by 6 assailants at Jawahar Ke village, Punjab. Following Moosewala’s death, Bishnoi’s gang initially claimed responsibility through social media; however, Bishnoi later denied this assertion. A court in Punjab framed him and 26 others in his murder case. The ongoing investigations consider him a central figure in the Moosewala murder.
